Monday Medley - Bahamani Beauties!

Monday Medley - A potpourri of interesting experiences, articles, posts from fellow bloggers which we liked, books we loved, interesting images of fellow travellers or images from our own portfolio. We hope it will be a good start to the week ahead......

Bijapur and Bidar in the state of Karnataka. Bastions of erstwhile Bahamani kingdom. The cradle of Islamic architecture in South India in 15th century.

You would have definitely read about Bijapur which is famous for the second largest dome in the world - Gol Gumbaz. But definitely not Bidar which is still off the beaten track.

We explored both the places during Dasara weekend. A few images from the trip. Click on them to see them in original size.

Gol Gumbaz, Bijapur
Asar Mahal, Bijapur
Ibrahim Rouza, Bijapur
Entrance to the fabulous fort @ Bidar
Naya Kamaan, Bidar
Madrassa of Mahmud Gawan
Winter is the best time to explore these two places when days are bearably hot!

Stay tuned. We will be following up with our detailed experience of exploring these two interesting cities.
